Reasons for Nursing
I chose nursing as a major for many reasons other than it is a very successful field to choose. Most hospitals are short on staff, as my sister says, so finding a job as a nurse if not the hardest thing to do. Also starting salaries can also be ridiculously high for just beginning your job career. Other than the static benefits, the nursing field appeals to me as a person and my skills. I seem to have a knack for science ever sense I was in grade school. The science portion of the ACT was my highest score on the test, and the other around me complained about how hard the science portions were. It seemed like second nature to me and my science classes seemed really easy to me while most people around me asked me for help or struggled. I am also a logical person, so learning about the world around me is really fascinating and learning about the body helps me understand myself also. Chemistry was one of the classes I excelled at and most things that go on in the body involve some form of chemistry. Knowing all of this, it just seemed like a perfect fit for me and it is why I now pursue nursing as a lifelong career to help understand myself and others better so that I can nurse others back to health with science.
I really respect your reasoning for becoming a nurse and think it is a much needed and noble profession. My wife and I are actually also going into the healthcare field for very similar reasons. I wish you all the best with your journeys
