A Fun But Unpopular Pastime
Around the start of my high my family and their friends introduced me to a little game called Dungeons and Dragons. In the beginning I was skeptical and I did not know what I was doing and then they told me that I had to create a character. I chose to create a barbarian, which looking back was not a good idea to start with because of all the responsibility that class entailed, not to mention the math for all the attacks I would be doing. I was the powerhouse of the party playing a key role in battles, but had little skill for much else making the experience a little less than it could have been. In my next story I played a dwarf spell sword maned Geoffrey. I had a bunch of neat skills, such as convincing people to give up information they might not otherwise share and teleportation. It was my first real go at a character I liked, and could role play. I gave him a very formal personality so that he could pose as some noble from the area, which could be good or bad. He was armed with a flail, a ball and chain, and could cast a multitude of spells, one of them being a blink. This spell could instantly move him from his space to anywhere within a 20 foot radius making it useful for getting out of dangerous situations, or for flanking a target. Another character I recently created is a rouge named Dwayne. He specializes in picking locks, finding hidden objects or items and disarming traps. He is also charismatic and can find out how much something is worth by just looking at it. Another characteristic is that he is extremely agile so he can dodge attacks and can make good use of throwing weapons. I have had much of fun with this character so far and I look forward to using him more in the future.
